I walked into the park early in the morning. It was quiet. A refreshing breeze, the smell of roses and the morning dew filled my nostrils. I could hear the sparrows having a family meeting, or maybe it was the sparrow music school on an excursion. The rays of the sun made long shadows and almost hidden behind a bench sat a young woman playing with a stick close to a bicycle. She looked thoughtful and I wondered if she needed some help.
Hi! I said, what your doing?
Hmmm, she said. Just waiting for tomorrow.
What’s up tomorrow?
I’ll go back to work, she said. The normal routines. I didn’t know it was the new no day today. So I need a little rest before I bike back home. Next week I’ll sleep long and save a little energy all day long for myself and the rest of the world.
I am sorry, but you knew this new day was here, didn’t you?
She stood up and grabbed her bike. I did, she said, but routines are hard to break sometimes. I felt happy this morning and was so mindful I did not realize something was different before I hit a closed office. But this new routine we all need is the best thing happened to our world. Before you came I enjoyed the silence I have never heard here before. It seems like I am the only one who forgot about the new situation. But I hope we all will win this fight and everyone on this planet will appreciate this new day and use it for what it is worth. Now I just hope my boyfriend has slept over as usual or remembered what day it is, so we can enjoy the day together when I am home again.
It seems like you accept this new 8th day in the calendar?
I do, I really do. If I meet this guy who came up with this solution to stop the global warming I will put my hands around his neck and kiss him.
Well, I said and felt a big smile spreading around my face.
Kiss me…
Her mouth went wide open. She looked at me a little while, her eyes started shining and her face turned into a big smile, and she did. She kissed me…
