If the wilderness is easy to find it won't be far from civilization. US was a big national park before the Europeans arrived and started to shoot everything that scared them. In US you can walk into a shop and buy a gun and start shooting others - even kids can do it. Compared to Europe this puts US on the bottom line in education, culture and everything you can measure.
