About the generation conflict and traditions...
My grandmother begged me to cut off my long hair and get an earring instead, just like real men did— when she was a young woman — what is now more than a century ago.
More than a decade later I did put in a ring in her memory.
And it is still there — four decades later — though it is not the same ring.
I haven't heard a comment for a long time… Do things change?
Protecting the traditions has always been a conflict starter.
Do I need to say more?

You might know me, but you don’t. I got wet in the rain, but now always soaked. I thought a lot. High thoughts and also loud and clear.
